Pizza for dinner – great! However there’s pizza, and there is pizza. Our healthy variation comes with a whole-wheat base topped with a nutritious pasta sauce with lots of veggies and some cheese. Let your kids help you.

Recipe

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 3/4 cup wholewheat flour
  • 3/4 cup multipurpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup milk

Topping

  • 1 cup tomato sauce (bought / home made)
  • 1.5 cup veggies of choice (e.g. thinly sliced onion, corn, broccoli florets, red pepper thinly sliced, tomatoes)
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella
  • Small bunch fresh oregano leaves, roughly chopped

Instructions

Pizza Dough
1. Stir the dry ingredients
2. Mix the wet ingredients in a jug
3. Stir wet mixture into the dry mixture until in a dough mixture
4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and roll to about 0.5 cm thin
5. Place in a pizza tin and pierce lightly with fork at 3 cm intervals
6. Preheat oven to 200 °C

Topping

  1. Spoon and smooth pizza sauce on base
  2.  Place vegetables & herbs evenly on top
  3. Sprinkle cheese
  4. Bake for 25 min & enjoy!
